Whole School Professional Development
As a team of educators, we engage in noticing and analyzing student artifacts, providing a glimpse into student thinking and understanding. The session is structured to foster an immersive learning experience, where educators collaboratively delve into mathematical concepts, solving problems and exploring innovative strategies, facilitating a deeper comprehension of the subject matter. By intertwining theory and practice, the workshop provides a conducive environment for educators to reflect on how they might continue to design student-centered learning experiences in their math classrooms.
Grade-Level
Coaching
Collaborating as a grade-level team is one of the strongest strategies for driving enduring transformation within a school. Grade-level coaching can particularly harness the power of Learning Labs, a transformative job-embedded professional development model, refined over 15 years by the UW College of Education and partner universities. Within the Learning Lab structure, educators come together during the school day, delving deep into their math content and instructional practices. The learning lab has four parts: collective learning, collaboratively planning a lesson to try with students, together teaching the lesson with students in a classroom, and then analyzing student work and reflecting as a team.
One-On-One
Coaching
One-on-one coaching offers personalized, targeted support tailored to the unique needs of teachers, instructional coaches, or administrators. This individualized approach allows for deeper reflection, feedback, and professional growth, addressing specific challenges and leveraging personal strengths. By fostering a direct mentorship relationship, one-on-one coaching empowers educators at all levels to achieve their fullest potential and bring about meaningful change in their instructional practices.
